Keeping fit and healthy is very 'in' right now, and for good reason obesity levels are rising in our society with easy access to fast food. There are areas, of the body which many people want to be prominent mainly being abdominals, in order for the body to acquire the desired shape. Many people struggle with gaining a lean mid section, due to the fact that in men and women it's the last place fat is lost from. However, this belly fat is not hard to get rid of, it need dedication, commitment, and a bit of hard work. Just doing basic crunches and sit ups, in a planned routine will get you your goal.

Chiseled and toned abs are easy to achieve, and there are very many exercises to choose from in order to define and lose fat from the mid section. Firstly try crunches they can be done with ones feet on the ground, elevated or resting on a 90 degree angle. Crunches work both and upper and lower abdomen as well as with variation the obliques. To make crunching slightly more difficult try having the elbows and knees touch each other as the crunches are being done. This targets both the upper and lower abdomen, they may be difficult at first but they are a great all round exercise.

Another exercise to try is an incline crunch, weights can be used for added resistance. These are good, because the muscles are strengthened even further, especially if there are weights that are incorporated into the work out. To target the side of the abdomen (the obliques) a medicine ball can be used. This inflatable ball can be used in different ways with or without weights, and when it is combined with the barbel twists then the entire abdomen gets the right workout. All these options are good and the final one is the plank!

Doing the plank is when with your elbows on the floor you raise your body to 90 degrees and hold for as long as possible. In order for the body to retain fitness there are other lifestyle choices that have got to be incorporated into one's daily routine. The most crucial being a healthy diet, at the end of the day you are what you eat and if you eat badly your body will perform badly and won't grow how you like it. So stay lean fit and healthy by exercising and maintaining a balanced natural diet.

Great Post! You have a lot of great tips on gettings those abs looking great for the summer. I believe 90% is diet. To get great abs you have to discipline yourself on what you eat. I know this could be tougher than the workout itself but it can be done.

I Agree with most of the information by Cecle.

As Marion Acosta says it is mainly down to your diet. Believe it or not, we all have a 6 pack! We just can't see it due to our past or current lifestyle. A healthy well balanced diet is recommended concentrating on low GI foods (find a list on the net of low GI foods and stock your cupboards with them). (Glycemic Index).

I personally find that my six pack appears when I reduce my intake of bread. If you do wish to eat bread, go for Soya or Rye bread.

Ref. the exercises mentioned, medicine balls and twists are good if you are aware of the correct technique. If performed incorrectly they can cause injury. You need to have both a strong lower back and strong abdominals before using medicine balls.
